Internal quality audit
The performance of internal quality audits in chemical analysis laboratories has been one of ISC-SCIENCE’s activities since its inception in 2003. This experience has convinced us that internal audits carried out by personnel from outside the laboratory are an indisputable means of improvement and expansion of knowledge and solutions, as well as a way of demonstrating commitment to the continuous improvement of the quality system.
Our team is made up of senior personnel and new recruits, both of whom have extensive experience as internal auditors of standards such as UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025, UNE-EN ISO 9001 and other quality standards in other sectors. We have professionals qualified as chief auditors to perform third party audits and with extensive experience in the day-to-day work of an analysis laboratory and in consulting, which allows them to approach internal audits also from the auditee’s point of view and with a close treatment. We speak in the language of the laboratory and put ourselves in their shoes.
We also have the collaboration of experts in the analysis techniques to be audited and in the reference standards also qualified as auditors based on the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard.
Internal quality audit objectives
A quality audit is a tool for diagnosing the system and improving it. We offer internal audits in which, in addition to diagnosing difficulties and detecting non-compliance with reference standards, we dialogue with the laboratory to provide different ways of solution with the knowledge acquired over the years as consultants and laboratory professionals. In addition, we accompany the laboratory throughout the process after the internal audit, either to solve the deviations detected in the internal audit or to support the laboratory in the search for solutions to respond to the deviations included in the reports of the certification and accreditation bodies.
We perform both follow-up audits and scope extension audits with constructive and improvement proposals that add value to them.
Although we believe that the best way to get the most out of an internal audit is to perform it at the laboratory’s facilities, we will adapt if necessary to perform it remotely.
Our complete reports comply with the documentary requirements of the reference standards.

Phases of a quality management audit
Prior to the on-site audit, we carry out a study of the documentation associated with both the Laboratory’s management system and the technical documentation (testing and associated procedures – Documentation Study) at our facilities.
Our audits begin with a first phase of getting to know the laboratory, its scope and expectations, which allows us to size the audit in a way that is most profitable for the laboratory. We coordinate our team to carry it out by proposing the Audit Program.

We then carry out the audit, discovering points of improvement and highlighting strengths, from a collaborative approach and full integration with the audited laboratory. The result is a comprehensive report on the outcome of the audit.

Finally, our post-audit service is tailored to the needs of each client, including collaboration in resolving audit findings in the simplest way possible.
