ISC-Science offers a wide range of monoelemental Isotopic Standards designed for quantitative analysis by Isotope Dilution Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ID-ICP-MS) with concentrations from 10 mg/g to 100 mg /g.
Abundance values are expressed as percentage [molar fraction (*100), %] and concentration values as micrograms of the element per gram of solution (μg/g). Based on ISO 17034 and ISO/IEC 17025, the certified concentration value is determined gravimetrically from a solution characterized by ICP-MS using a reference method in a single laboratory [isotope dilution and mass spectrometry (iD-MS)], and certified abundance values are determined by measuring the isotopic ratio of all isotopes of the element via ICP-MS using the enriched isotope of the corresponding element as a reference. The expanded uncertainty for each value is determined as U = 2 · u, where k = 2 is a coverage factor for a 95% confidence interval and u is the combined uncertainty calculated according to ISO Guide 35. The value of u attempts to represent the combined effect of different contributions to uncertainty associated with gravimetric preparation, ID-MS determination, homogeneity, and stability for concentration values, and ICP-MS determination for abundance values.
The stability of these materials is based on rigorous stability studies under storage conditions (long-term stability) and transportation conditions (short-term stability) according to ISO Guide 35. These studies include, but are not limited to, the effect of temperature.
A reference material is essential for laboratories that prioritize precision and reliability. It is a substance with homogeneous and stable properties, making it ideal for instrument calibration, method verification, and ensuring the quality of results. These materials play a critical role in validating methods, estimating uncertainties, and ensuring the traceability of obtained data.
Implementing an effective quality control system in a laboratory requires robust tools like Certified Reference Materials (CRMs). These materials ensure the accuracy and traceability of results in both calibrations and testing, complying with the highest international standards, such as those outlined in ISO Guide 33.
With nearly two decades of experience, ISC-Science is a leading manufacturer of isotopic standards and CRMs, accredited by Spanish Accreditataion Body (ENAC-accreditation no. 3/PMR004). ISC-Science has expanded its product range to include certified reference materials for determining elemental content in clean water, adhering to the stringent ISO 17034 standard.
The stability of our materials is guaranteed through rigorous long-term stability studies and transportation condition assessments, following ISO Guide 35 guidelines. Quality is non-negotiable, which is why ISC-Science is dedicated to offering materials that maintain their integrity and precision, even under the most demanding conditions.
